Zebrafish is an animal model of choice for research in developmental biology and for the study of embryogenesis
More recently, it has emerged as a particularly advantageous model for the study of infectious processes and the resulting immune responses, in connection with various human pathologies.
The LPHI hosts a zebrafish facility managed by a team of zootechnicians who are in charge of:
- the breeding, rearing and feeding of the fish
- the respect of the sanitary rules and the well-being of the animals
- the maintenance of the aquariums and breeding conditions in accordance with current EU regulations
- the proper operation of the fish husbandry and the training of new users
- establishing the link with local animal welfare structure (SBEA) and veterinary services
