Groupe du Dr. Georges Lutfalla - Équipe "Cytokines, Évolution et Mise en place de l'Immunité"

I am a PhD student at LPHI since 2017. I am coming from Serbia, and my PhD project is part of the Marie Curie Innovative Training Network ImageInLife, which gathers international students from all over the world working in the field of high resolutive imaging of vertebrate embryos.

At LPHI, I am working with transgenic zebrafish embryos to study immune responses during inflammation and infection in vivo. In the friendly environment of LPHI, I am happy to improve my skills in recent microscopy techniques and zebrafish transgenesis, but also have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with successful researchers and amazing people.

Groupe du Dr. Maryse Lebrun - Équipe "Biogenèse Membraniare et Interactions avec la Cellule Hôte chez Plasmodium et Toxoplasma"

I joined the LPHI to complete my PhD thesis as part of the LabEx ParaFrap Program. I have been working for three years in the group of Maryse Lebrun understanding the role of rhoptry proteins of Toxoplasma gondii.

The time I have spent in LPHI has been very rewarding on both a scientific and human level. The LPHI is a very welcoming unit and people from all teams are always willing to help and discuss ideas and projects. The range and diversity of subject areas represented at the LPHI provide for enriching and original contributions to discussions, as well as access to new tools.

I have had the opportunity to meet new people and make friends, through activities such as the pétanque tournaments, the Christmas meals (with secret santa!), the running club, and drinks in town with PhDs and postdocs.

It will be with a heavy heart I will leave the lab, but it will be with the newfound skills and friends I made along the way.
