Cellular communication in the hematopoietic niche

Head of group: Dr. Etienne Lelièvre

We are studying the cellular and molecular environment of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in the caudal hematopoietic tissue (CHT) in zebrafish. We seek to characterize the communication networks that HSCs establish with endothelial, stromal and neuronal cells surrounding them in order to generate a fully operative hematopoietic niche, i.e. a niche that allows proper expansion and differentiation of HSCs to give rise to progenitors as well as mature hematopoietic cells.
